This collection consists of original and photocopied materials regarding various diocesan parishes and missions from 1791 to present (bulk, 1950-1989), including administrative records, correspondence, publications, newspaper clippings, and photographs regarding the day to day operations of parishes, missions, and their ministry to Catholics in South Carolina.  Materials were transferred from various chancery offices and individual parishes/missions, and gifted from various individuals and organizations.  The administrative materials contain unpublished histories from both parish affiliated and unaffiliated persons, parish organization meeting minutes, some financial records, property surveys, parish announcements, and notes compiled by Father William C. Burn during his appointment as Diocesan Archivist, 1974-1979.  The correspondence includes letters to and from priests, bishops, parishioners, and unaffiliated persons.  Various publications include church bulletins, mission work, parish directories, pamphlets, newsletters, etc. Newspaper clippings include articles regarding parish churches and missions from the Catholic Miscellany and various public newspapers around South Carolina and the United States.  Photographs include various properties and activities at parish churches, missions, and schools.  Miscellaneous materials include ledgers; a 1985 “Four Horseman” comic; mission reports; videocassette and audiocassette recordings of meetings and church services; inventory catalogs; cemetery inscriptions, oral histories; and an anniversary plaque.  There are five oversize boxes including administrative materials, insurance appraisals, and one oversize letter and photograph.  Oversize ledgers include financial records, school board minutes, and various organization registers from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
