Biographical or Historical Information
William Robert Kustes, a former Roman Catholic priest, was born in 1927 to Frank and Kathryn Kustes in Fulton, Illinois. Kustes attended St. Philip Neri School in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and St. Bernard College and Seminary in Cullman, Alabama. He was ordained in 1958.
His assignments in South Carolina included assistant supervisor at Camp St. Mary, Beaufort; assistant pastor at St. Mary the Virgin Mother, Hartsville; deanery director of the Catholic Youth Organization, Florence; teacher at Bishop England High School, Charleston; and assistant pastor at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Charleston. Kustes left the priesthood in 1960.
