Biographical or Historical Information
The Knights of Columbus is a worldwide men’s organization founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1902, Father Charles du Bose Wood founded the Reverend P.N. Lynch Council No. 704 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The council began with fifty-five men and at the time of the 100th anniversary celebration had increased to 435 members. The council focuses on charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Their mission is to support the gospel, help charitable causes, serve people in need, and support Catholic education and vocations to the priesthood.
