Office of Multimedia records
Scope and Contents
The Office of Multimedia records is largely comprised of images created for use in the Diocese of Charleston newspaper, The Catholic Miscellany, as well as email memorandums. The images were mostly created by Miscellany staff, with some contributions by parishioners and diocesan employees. The images depict people, places, and events that were featured in Miscellany news stories. Included are images of Bishops David Thompson and Robert Baker, various priests, religious men and women, deacons, and parishioners throughout the state. Catholic organizations, institutions, churches, and schools are featured as well. Some topics include various religious services; events of various Catholic organizations; groundbreaking ceremonies; blessings and dedications; pro-life activities and demonstrations; and holiday celebrations and services. The email memorandums, referred to as email blasts, fax-email memorandum, and correspondence, were created by various departments and personnel of the diocese such as the bishop, vicar general, vicar of divine worship and sacraments, Office of Priest Personnel, and the Office of Multimedia. The communications convey diocesan wide information to priests, parish life facilitators, administrators, diocesan employees, schools, principals, and deacons. Topics include deaths, appointments, personnel changes, diocesan human resource policies as well as sacramental policies, Presbyteral Council executive summaries, ordinations, and various press releases regarding local and national news. Also included are publications created by the Office of Multimedia for other diocesan purposes, such as an annual parish reports for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and the 1995 Synod book.
