Biographical or Historical Information

Mary Elizabeth O’Neill, a Roman Catholic from Charleston, South Carolina, was born in 1927 to Aloysius Moultrie O’Neill and Mary Almena Riley O’Neill.  She attended Bishop England High School and graduated in 1944. O’Neill was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Aloysius O’Neill, Mary’s father, was godfather to Lawrence Sheedy, a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Charleston. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
