Scope and Contents

This collection consists of original rite of election and confirmation registers that were annually submitted to the bishop’s office by deaneries and parishes. Materials were transferred to the archives annually until policy changes were instituted by Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone in 2009. There are two series in this collection; Rite of Election and Confirmations. Records in the Rite of Election series are organized alphabetically by deanery. Records in the Confirmations series are organized chronologically and alphabetical by parish. Individual folders have been placed in reverse chronological order since they are added to annually. Materials include rite of election books from the Charleston and Greenville deaneries (2), 1986-1990; confirmation registers from various parishes in the diocese, 1986-2009; and correspondence regarding submittal to the bishop’s office.
